Systeme.io Free Plan Limitations (2026): What Can You Actually Do for Free?

Systeme.io Free Plan Limitations 2026 — Growth Stack Lab

Systeme.io currently offers a Free plan with no stated trial expiry and no credit card required. It includes up to 2,000 contacts, three funnels and one course. Its tighter limits are on how you organize follow-up: one campaign, one automation rule, one workflow and one tag.

GSL has used a Free account for a small PDF-delivery funnel and a two-lesson course. Those tests show what happened in those specific setups; they do not establish that every included feature works for every business. This guide separates the published Systeme.io free plan limitations from what we checked. For the wider platform decision, see our Systeme.io for Solopreneurs review.

Quick Answer: Is Systeme.io Really Free?

Yes. The Free plan is ongoing access with usage limits, rather than a trial that ends after a set number of days. Systeme.io’s official pricing page lists it at $0. Optional paid plans are separate subscriptions.

“Free forever” also does not mean a paid lifetime deal: the former describes an ongoing $0 tier; the latter would need its own purchase terms. If you are comparing paid capacity, use our Systeme.io plan-selection guide. The limits below explain what you can build on Free.

The 2,000-Contact Limit Is Generous for a New Business

For a new solopreneur, 2,000 contacts is not a tiny allowance.

If you are starting from zero, it may take time before your email list becomes large enough for this limit to matter.

More importantly, Systeme.io currently allows unlimited email sends on the Free plan. That is different from free plans that restrict both subscriber count and monthly sending volume. Systeme.io pricing

For someone validating an offer, building a first lead magnet, or collecting early subscribers, the contact limit is probably not the first restriction you will encounter.

In my view, the more noticeable limits appear in funnels and automation.

Three Sales Funnels Can Be Enough — Until You Add More Offers

The Free plan currently allows three sales funnels with a total allowance of 15 funnel steps. Systeme.io pricing

For a simple one-person business, that is enough to build something real.

For example, one funnel could be used for a lead magnet, another for a product or service, and the third for testing another offer.

When I tested Systeme.io, I created a basic funnel with an opt-in page and a thank-you page using the templates inside the platform.

My test funnel inside Systeme.io. Even the Free plan lets you build and publish a working funnel without writing code.

I later used the same Free account to build and test a complete lead magnet funnel, including the opt-in page, thank-you page, PDF delivery, automated email, and unsubscribe verification.

The limitation becomes more important once you begin creating multiple lead magnets, products, audience segments, or campaigns.

Three funnels can disappear surprisingly quickly.

Automation Is Where the Free Plan Feels Most Limited

Free includes one automation rule, one workflow and one tag. In the editor, we could select a funnel-form subscription as a trigger and choose actions such as sending an email, subscribing a contact to a campaign or adding a tag. Seeing an action in the menu is not proof that we ran it.

My automation test connected a funnel form subscription to an action inside Systeme.io.

Our PDF-delivery test checked a single-email route. A multi-email welcome series can use a rule to subscribe a contact to a campaign; it does not automatically require a workflow. A second independent rule, campaign or tag is a separate capacity question. Our Rules and Workflows review explains which tool handles each job.

Unlimited Email Sending Does Not Mean Unlimited Email Marketing Setup

One of the most attractive parts of Systeme.io’s Free plan is unlimited email sending.

That sounds unusually generous for a free marketing platform, and in practical terms it is.

You can send emails to your contacts without running into a monthly email-send allowance. Systeme.io currently lists unlimited email sending across all plans, including Free. Systeme.io pricing

But there is an important distinction.

The number of emails you can send is unlimited, while the structure around your email marketing is not.

On the Free plan, you currently get one email campaign, one automation rule, one workflow, and one tag. Systeme.io pricing

For a simple business, that may be enough.

You could create one welcome campaign, connect it to your opt-in funnel, and begin following up with new subscribers automatically.

One campaign can contain several email steps. For a small starting point, see our Free-plan welcome email sequence guide, which outlines a proposed three-email campaign using one rule. It is based on official documentation; we have not configured or tested that sequence.

The limitation becomes more obvious when you want several different lead magnets, customer journeys, products, or audience segments.

At that point, unlimited email sending is still useful — but the limited number of campaigns and automations can become the real bottleneck.

There is also an email-branding limit: Free users cannot remove the ‘Sent with systeme.io’ affiliate badge from their emails. Systeme.io’s official help guide says removing it requires a paid subscription.

If that footer is acceptable while you validate your first offer, this alone is not a reason to upgrade. If removing the platform’s promotional badge is a requirement for your business, include that in your upgrade decision.

One Custom Domain Is Enough for Many New Solopreneurs

Systeme.io’s Free plan currently includes one custom domain. Systeme.io pricing

For a new solopreneur running one brand, that can be enough.

A custom domain is important because it allows you to use your own branded web address instead of relying entirely on a platform-generated URL.

In my own testing, I connected a custom domain and configured the required DNS settings inside Systeme.io.

The setup required a little more work than building a funnel, but once the records were configured correctly, the domain could be used with the platform.

For someone operating one business under one brand, the one-domain limit may not feel restrictive at all.

It becomes more relevant if you later launch multiple brands, separate websites, or client projects.

The Free Plan Includes One Course

Systeme.io also allows you to create one course on the Free plan.

The official comparison table lists one course on Free. As checked on October 2, 2026, the official comparison table lists 500 students on Free and unlimited students on paid plans. The same page also describes students as unlimited across all plans. Because those statements conflict, confirm the student allowance in your account or with Systeme.io support before launching a course.

Our two-lesson Free course test records the account’s 500-student display alongside this unresolved official-page discrepancy, plus the results of one manual enrollment.

The separate one-course limit matters if you want to publish a second course. The one-learner test does not establish how the account behaves at its student limit.

Evergreen Webinars Are Not Included

Evergreen webinars are one of the clearer feature restrictions.

The Free plan currently includes zero evergreen webinars. The Startup plan also includes zero, while the Webinar plan includes 10 and the Unlimited plan removes that limit. Systeme.io pricing

That means the Free plan will not be enough if automated webinars are a central part of your sales strategy.

For many new solopreneurs, however, this may not matter at the beginning.

If your first priority is building a lead-generation funnel, sending emails, and validating an offer, webinar functionality can come later.

When Will You Actually Outgrow the Free Plan?

The Free plan becomes restrictive when your business becomes more complex rather than simply when you begin using Systeme.io seriously.

A new business can still build a real funnel, collect contacts, send unlimited emails, connect a custom domain, create a course, and experiment with automation before paying.

The pressure to upgrade is more likely to appear when you exceed the 2,000-contact allowance, need more than three funnels, want several automation rules or workflows, or begin operating multiple offers at the same time. Systeme.io pricing

The current monthly pricing is $0 for Free, $17 for Startup, $47 for Webinar, and $97 for Unlimited. Pricing can change, so I would always check Systeme.io’s official pricing page before upgrading. Systeme.io pricing

For me, the best reason to upgrade would not be simply because more features exist.

I would upgrade when a specific Free-plan limit begins interfering with a real business workflow.

Once you identify the limit that blocks your workflow, use the Systeme.io plan-selection guide to compare the next paid tier with what you actually need. Check the vendor’s current limits and price before upgrading.

Is the Systeme.io Free Plan Enough for a Solopreneur?

Check the setup you need, rather than the length of the feature list. One PDF download with one delivery email fits a different structure from several offers that each need their own follow-up. Compare your required funnels, campaigns, rules and tags with the table above. Count those resources before adding a second offer.

Who Should Stay on the Free Plan?

Keep Free if your required setup fits the listed allowances and its email branding is acceptable. Before paying, name the resource you are missing: a second campaign, another rule, more contacts or an additional course. Then check whether the next plan actually supplies it. An unused feature is not a reason to upgrade.

Final Thoughts: How Limited Is Systeme.io’s Free Plan Really?

The useful Free-plan question is which limit blocks your next task. The table and linked tests above give you a starting point; check the current official pricing page before relying on a particular allowance.
